Program areas at Florida Society of Clinical Oncology

Educationflasco provides two educational sessions for its members per year covering scientific and business of Oncology topics. In addition, each year flasco holds a business of Oncology summit for its members.flasco has previously sponsored an asco young investigator's award for Florida fellows and is currently supporting educational grants to facilitate fellow travel to nine different Oncology conferences. Through these grant opportunities, fellows have the chance to expand their training by participating in these meetings, facilitate collaboration, learning, professional networking, and become involved in the societies of peer professionals.opportunities for active participation and learning of the administrative aspects of Clinical care through flasco member mentorship and committee involvement are encouraged.employment opportunities in Florida after fellowship can be facilitated through flasco members and administration. Junior faculty and recent graduates are also encouraged to take advantage of these resources, particularly the mentorship, educational and administrative aspects of professional development through flasco.flasco fellow membership and associated benefits are free to any trainee of a Florida hematology or medical Oncology fellowship program.flasco has a weekly newsletter, fax blast, transmitted via fax or email to all members and to the corporate sponsors, Florida medicare, and all of the private insurance payers.provided 5 educational events for cancer patients and their caregivers, providing information about their disease, treatment options, financial support, and the importance of a caregiver. Provide two educational meetings each year specifically for nurses, nurse practitioners, andphysician assistants, which have been very well received and draw over 100 Oncology healthcare providers.
Informationflasco has a weekly newsletter, two monthly newsletters, a website, and an app that is sent to and is accessible by all flasco members, flasco corporate sponsors, Florida medicare, and all of the private insurance payers. Flasco uses these communications to give updates on the latest changes in Oncology ranging from topics of standard of care and drug approvals to reimbursement issues and financial toxicity.flasco focus includes communications and education regarding legislative changes in collaboration with the Florida medical association, american cancer Society, and the leukemia/lymphoma Society on behalf of Florida cancer patients. Flasco collaborates with asco, ash, accc and coa at the national level. Legislative alerts are sent out to the entire membership when appropriate.
