Program areas at Flint Hills Regional Council

Fhrta - the flint hills regional council is a voluntary service association of local Kansas governments from geary, morris, riley, pottawatomie, lyon and wabaunsee counties and their respective municipalities and unincorporated areas. These local flint hills governments have formed the fhrc to provide service of mutual benefit to the region best gained from cooperation and partnership. Services provided include grant writing and grant administration services for a fee.

Oea force reduction: the fhrc obtained a grant from the us department of defense to perform the economic impact analysis. Fhrc adminsters and manages the grant. The primary goal of this project is to study and understand the potential economic impacts of forced personnel reduction by the army in the fort riley region. Fhrc assesses the direct and ancillary impacts to all critical elements of the social and economic fabric of the region to accomplish project objectives.

Flint hills metropolitan planning organization's (fhmpo) fiscal agent: in march 2013 fhrc was named the fiscal agent for the fhmpo. The fhmpo is governed by a policy board made up of elected officials from the jurisdictions in the metropolitan area. Fhrc's executive director was named the secretary of the fhmpo policy board and will oversee the work of the transportation planner hired to manage the planning processes of the fhmpo. The agency managed the planning funds allocated to the fhmpo.
