Program areas at First Step of Sarasota
Outpatient Services - First Step outpatient services include psycho-social assessment; individualized treatment plan development and program orientation (intake); individual therapy; group therapy; family therapy; and urinalysis testing. Services are available to adolescents and adults and level of intensity is determined at assessment.
Detox - This is a medically supervised program designated to ensure that the individuals go through the physical and emotional crisis of withdrawal from alcohol and drugs safely.
Crisis Stabilization Unit - The crisis stabilization unit provides acute care services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for individuals 18 and older who are experiencing a severe emotional or psychiatric crisis, and who, in the absence of a suitable alternative, would require hospitalization. It is also the designated Public Baker Act receiving facility for adults in Sarasota.
Pathways - 28-day and extended recovery programs are designed to help substance abusing individuals establish a firm foundation in the recovery process. Clients learn new recovery skills, receive relapse prevention training and counseling services supplied by a clinical team trained and skilled in the latest science-based techniques. Individual, group and family counseling, combined with psycho-educational presentations and strong connections to the 12-step community provides clients with a "Best Practices" approach to overcoming addictive disorders. Choices and Crossroads - These are Florida Department of Correction programs for substance abusing probationers in need of stabilization and controlled reintegration into the community.
Seasons, Transitions, Mothers and Infants, and Viper - These residential programs provide substance abuse counseling to varying individuals throughout the treatment process. Royal Palm Apartments - These apartments provide sober transitional housing to graduates of local substance abuse programs.
