Companions in crisis gives financial support for those who need cancer treatments for their dogs or cats. This program serves Washington dc, Maryland, and Virginia residents. The process is relatively easy in that their treating veterinarian completes the medical application regarding treatment plan. It then goes to a medical board to be reviewed. We have parameters that we work within. If accepted, the client fills out the personal and financial part of the application. Depending on their income and need, we will award the owners between 20-40% of the costs. We pay this directly to the veterinary practice.
Pixie's pen pals is one of the longest running prison dog training programs in the country. Shelter pups are housed and trained in three va prisons. It is funded through the state of va with an annual grant of $75,000. We are paid the year after the program runs. Unfortunately, the program hasn't run since early 2020 but will restart later in 2023. Received no funds for this program due to the program being on hold.
Our educational outreach is far and wide. We continue to see the information spreading all over the world expanding information about pet health and cancer warning signs and concerns. With our lumps and bumps clinics throughout Virginia and beyond, we are keeping pet owners aware of the benefits of early warning signs. Through our continuing education courses for veterinarians, we are keeping them informed on the latest information regarding pet cancer health and treatments as well as geriatric care.
Grants provided to individuals for veterinarian expenses.
