Buddy walk and Down for derby gala.the Association organizes two events each year to educate, advocate and celebrate people with Down syndrome.the buddy walk program was established in 1995 by the national Down syndrom society to promote acceptance and inclusion for people with Down Syndrome. Brevard county's buddy walk was started in 2003 and draws more than 1,000 participants every november. The event is focused on raising awareness and fundraising and includes a one mile walk, bounce houses, a dj and dancing plus food trucks for a four to five hour family and friends event.the Down for derby gala is an evening event for raising awareness and fundraising every spring in conjuction with the Kentucky derby horse race. Guests are treated to a sit Down meal, silent and live auctions and a dj with dancing while watching the big race.
Personal financial support and tuition-assistance for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families including but not limited to: school, temporary housing and utilities assistance, music therapy and personal fitness.
Health-related therapies for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families including but not limited to: speech therapy, physical & occupational therapy, behavioral therapy, medical and dental support, and child & family consulting.
Camp fees for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families for specialized programs and support.
