Program areas at Fairy Godmother Project

Family Services and Financial Relief Program: The Family Services Program served 29 families facing pediatric cancer with emotional support and financial assistance. These services include financial relief through bill payments twice a year for a maximum total of $1000 (all bills paid directly to the biller), monthly meals prepared by volunteers, house cleaning, lawn care, and grocery and gas cards provided monthly. Families can also request a AAA Roadside Assistance membership, assistance on house projects through our community partnerships, and emergency assistance for unexpected surgeries, hospitalizations, and other unexpected medical emergencies through our Crisis Fund. By easing the everyday burdens for the families, we serve, we can decrease the overall stress that the family experiences during these challenging times and lessen the long-term impact on the family.
Stargazer's Program provides emotional and financial support to families at the end of a child's life and beyond. FGP provides hospice support, financial assistance, funeral planning, annual retreats for the bereaved, and memorial events to celebrate the child's life. In 2022, we supported one new family through hospice and funeral arrangements and twenty-one families with ongoing emotional support and retreat services.
HOur HopeLink Program provides support groups for families at all phases of pediatric cancer (active treatment, remission, and end-of-life and beyond). The support groups are facilitated by a clinically licensed social work using the Dougy Center model for grief support. During 2022, 27 sessions were held. HopeLink provides families facing pediatric cancer the opportunity to discuss their thoughts and feelings with others who are experiencing similar things. Groups are offered monthly from Aug-May virtually.
