Fair Chance Project / Facts Education Fund

Fair Chance Project runs five sub-projects, they are: 1) life changers - a reentry program for formerly incarcerated men and women. 2) fuel - a Project which develops leadership from among family members and loved ones of people serving a sentence of life wihout the possibility of parole. The group works with mena and women inside helpin to develop programs for a population for whom there are few programs. 3) care first community investment (cfci)-this program serves incarcerated and formerly incarcerated partificpants in la county. The goal is to teach introductory courses inside the county's correctional facilities and enroll this population in a program that provides academic, life skills, and career development training. 4) legal clinics - we conduct 2 legal clinics a month where issues related to laws and the courts are topis of discussion, including expungements. We also make court appearances on behalf of folk who need the support and a level of experience which can aid in the outcome of the case. 5) walking the yard is a mentorship program within prison where old-time lifers are matched with youth entering prison with the focus on how best to avoid the pitfalls of prison life. To date, we've had over 2,000 mentors in all 24 prisons.
