Program areas at Evergreen Audubon

Provided virtual programming for school and community groups throughout 2020. Attendance at virtual after-school programs was 10 students for our eight-week program in the spring of 2020. We continued to serve local schools by offering a Wildlife Watch-inspired virtual program and delivered this brand new program to seven classrooms reaching 111 students. This program involved students developing their own wildlife safety campaign. Virtual general meetings held monthly reach an average of 36 participants.
Once we could host small group programs no more than eight participants outdoors we led five native plant walks for adults serving 25 adults. Although our 2020 camps were canceled we were able to deliver an in-person and outdoor program for seven students who formed their own learning pod. This program met twice a week between September 10th and December 8th at various open space parks.
Because of COVID restrictions in 2020 the Evergreen Nature Center was only open from 3 July 3 to 15 August 15 for 34 appointment hours. During this period we welcomed 163 visitors 87 adults and 76 children which was a significant decrease from past years. One major accomplishment in 2020 was our involvement in the development and delivery of the Wildlife Watch Program in collaboration with Wild Aware and Denver Parks & Recreation. Volunteers and staff educated visitors about the local wildlife at Evergreen Lake with a focus recreating safely around elk during rutting and calving seasons.
