Program areas at Environmental Design Research Association
The EDRA annual conference hosts approximately 500 researchers, academics, students & policy makers who discuss & learn about the latest research in environmental design. The Association also publishes a quarterly newsletter, a peer reviewed publication & conference proceedings, which synthesize & disseminate knowledge in design & planning for people that are important to members who teach or practice in 28 countries worldwide. In 2022, the Great Places Awards entered its 24th year. This award recognizes work that combines expertise in design, research & practice, & contributes to advance the organization's goal to help create dynamic, humane places that engage our attention & imagination. Award-winning projects reflect an interdisciplinary approach that is enduring, human-centered, sustainable & concerned with the experiential relationship between people & their designated environments. Great Places Awards are offered in the following categories: GPA design, GPA book, GPA planning, GPA Art & GPA research. We offer a CORE Certificate of Research Excellence which recognizes research endeavors made by professionals in environmental design practice.We recognize a few members of the organization every year with either a Career, Achievement, Service or Organization award. in 2022 we bestowed 2 career awards & a Service award. We also offered an annual Graduate Student Workshop & held online webinars & events to disseminate scientific knowledge & creative endeavors in professional & academic context around the world.
