Program areas at End Of Life Choices New York
End of Life Choices New York (eolcny) educates the general public, students and health care professionals about End of Life issues by giving presentation on palliative care, pain management, advance directives, and patient rights; and by producing and distributing educational materials on End of Life issues. They offer free counseling to patients and their families about End of Life concerns, such as choosing treatment options, creating advance directives, and talking openly and honestly about health care wishes. They pursue legal and legislative reform to ensure a patients right to a peaceful death, including implementation and enforcement of advance directives, pain and symptom management, and legalization of aid in dying.eolcny engages in a variety of educational and outreach efforts to inform the public about End of Life options. During this fiscal year, eolcny added three webinars that focused on different aspects of End of Life planning. Webinars included the role of social workers in hospice, spirituality at the End of Life and advance care forms tutorials. We developed a leagacy league meeting which allows for people to meet in person and virtually to discuss End of Life planning in a casual manner. We distributed numerous educational materials at health fairs and in-person presentations. We provided continuing education units to New York state licensed social workers. We hosted an in-person lecture in nyc attended by approximately 50 people. We also produced a bimonhly electronic newsletter sent to a mailing list of over 4,000. We also educated and engaged with the public through our robust website and social media. We have published extensively in media across the state, on all platforms, including numerous letters to the editor and radio shows.
