Program areas at Empowerment Opportunity Center

Energy programs: low income home energy assistance program (liheap): dmcoc's liheap program provides utility assistance to households in need throughout macon County. Weatherization program: dmcoc's weatherization program improves homes to make them safer and more energy efficient, resulting in lower utility costs for families.
Community services: job training & employment readiness: dmcoc's job training and employment readiness programs prepare individuals who are unemployed or underemployed to move ahead in the workforce by paying for training programs and providing supports such as transportation and uniforms. Beginning with 2020 and the pandemic we resumed our rent assistance program.
Anna waters head start: dmcoc's anna waters head start program provides comprehensive early childhood education services to 3-5 year-old children, along with case management and wrap-around supports for their families.
Child care food program provides food for the children served by our head start program.
Senior services: dmcoc's senior services program serves congregate noontime meals at sites throughout macon County, and provides transportation options for seniors in need in the community.
Homeless services: provides both emergency and transitional housing to homeless families and individuals with case management services that are focused on obtaining permanent housing.
This program was funding received from the united way to provide direct client assistance to individuals to assist with weatherization services for qualifying individuals' homes and to provide meals and other direct client assistance to head start children and families.
