The Elings Park Foundation transformed Santa Barbara's city landfill into a magnificent 230-acre park in 1965. It is the largest community-supported, nonprofit, public park in America and is privately funded. No city or county monies are used for maintenance. Elings Park makes Santa Barbara happier, healthier, smarter and more inspired through the arts, recreation and nature. The park features picturesque oak groves and sweeping views that make it larger than Disney Land; it is situated on the Santa Barbara Mesa.
