Volunteer services - rsvp connects adults seeking meaningful volunteer opportunities with more than 40 nonprofits who are seeking volunteers to complete a project that fulfills their mission. The volunteer's skills, interests, experience and availability ar matched with the positions that area nonprofits and agencies are seeking to fill. Volunteers age 55 and older are enrolled in retired & senior volunteer program (rsvp) which is a part of the senior corps which is america's largest volunteer network for people 55 and over with over 40,000 volunteers tackling tough issues in communities nationwide. Annually, approximately 800 volunteers serve a combined total of over 90,000 hours in multiple positions in approximately 60 locations.
In-home care & respite Eldercircle is a licensed provider that provides a personalized assistance taht helps maintain and support healthy independent aging in the home and community. Older adults can enjoy their day-to-day activities safely and confidently with a little extra hand from a trained in-home care companion. As a leader of in-home services in itasca county, Eldercircle's in-home services also provide caregivers a respite break & chance to recharge. Eldercircle's licensed non-medical home care ensures older adults maintain as much self-sufficiency as possible, while family members remain at ease knowing their loved one is receiving personal, trustworthy care. Annualy, Eldercircle serves approximately 100 participants and caregivers.
Adult day stay through a supportive service system this program assists people experiencing isolation due to physical and social demands. Adult day service provides participants with meaningful connection, a sense of belonging and an enhanced quality of life in a community setting that provides support, recreation and essential health services. Participants have a choice of activities, exercise and social interaction which help maintain physical and emotional health and enable them to remain living in their home and their community. Annualy, approximately 40 participants and caregivers are served.
Lawn mowing & snow removal provides assistance for lawn mowing and snow removal for persons 60+ who qualify within income guidelines. Eldercircle maintains a reliable list of providers. Transportation is crucial to ensure access to essential services and the availability of transportation options greatly affects quality of life, including the ability to remain in one's home and stay connected to the community. All about aging is a resource network that helps people find and connect with programs, services and support groups in their communities. Social movability is a collaborative transportation project with mobility mania, itasca life options, aeoa and Eldercircle that will offer accessible and affordable rides for social and community engagements after public transit hours focusing on older adults 60+ and differently-abled people of all ages. Other accomplishments active living space is a space focused on developing, maintaining and promoting a wide variety of older adult programming and activities, including multigenerational activities. It is a collaborative space with the city of grand rapids, itasca county ymca and Eldercircle. Committee on aging is a coordinated monthly meeting comprised of memebers from senior centers throughout itasca county. These meetings rotate at different senior centers and speakers foucs on aging issues and concerns. The members that attend bring the inforamtion back to each center to share. Aging network is a bi-monthly meeting that bring professional together who serve people 55+. Aarp tax aid is a free tax assistance and preparation for low-to- middle income families and individuals of all ages. Although special attention is given to those ages 60 and older, the service is open to members of the community of any age, and aarp membership is not required.
