Program areas at East End Hospice

Our compassionate team of healthcare professionals includes a physician, nurses (lpns and rns), Hospice aides, social workers, and spiritual and bereavement counselors. All are fully trained and specialize in end-of-life care. Volunteers are also a valued part of the team.physicians and nurses manage pain and physical symptoms. Hospice aides tend to personal care, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding. Social workers look after emotional needs, helping patients with feelings of fear and anxiety, or communication issues with family. They also assist with practical matters, such as insurance benefits and final arrangements. Spiritual counselors provide spiritual care. They may share moments of quiet reflection, guide patients on difficult decisions, or put them in touch with their priest, minister or rabbi. Like most hospices, East End Hospice is multi-denominational: and respects all religious affiliations.
At East End Hospice our team of highly trained professionals and volunteers offers bereavement counseling not only to the families of our Hospice patients, but for the larger East End community.the zinberg family bereavement center services may include weekly group counseling sessions or individual sessions. The zinberg family bereavement care team is currently offering the following bereavement groups: loss of spouse, loss of a parent or sibling, loss of a child, general bereavement support groups, child & teen support groups, equine therapy groups and an upcoming spanish language bereavement support group. Groups meet weekly at convenient locations on the north and south forks or on zoom.we offer training in grief and bereavement therapy to counselors, educators, therapists and health professionals, and importantly, offer bereavement programs to church, civic and community organizations.
The kanas center for Hospice care provides all the services you would expect in a hospital--in a much more welcoming, home-like setting. Specifically designed, staffed and equipped for end-of-life care, the center offers round-the-clock skilled clinical staffing, state-of-the art equipment, and access to physicians, Hospice aides, social workers, bereavement counselors, chaplains, and other specialists. Trained volunteers assist with care and companionship. The serene setting encourages visits from families and friends and honors a 24-hour visitation policy, which includes children, and often pets. Each patient suite is designed for comfort, privacy, and ease of care. In addition to the private bath, each includes a patio, space for mementos and personal touches, sitting areas and accommodations for family and friends to spend the night if they choose.
