Program areas at EBCS
Student achievement: Elmer A. Henderson: A Johns Hopkins Partnership School serves over 600 students in grades prekindergarten-8. Our goal at Henderson-Hopkins is to unlock students' joy, passion, and brilliance while preparing them for college and 21st-century careers. Part of this work is ensuring that students are making rapid academic progress. To support this goal, we have partnerships with achievement network, literacy lab, amplify, springboard collaborative, and more organizations that provide personalized academic support to all learners.
Strengthening Community: Henderson-Hopkins strives to be A pillar of its surrounding East Baltimore Community. In response to covid-19-related School closures and economic uncertainty, Henderson-Hopkins started A weekly food distribution that still operates today. Open to anyone in the Community, Henderson-Hopkins has served 1.1 million pounds of food to 44,000 families. In this and other ways, Henderson-Hopkins has made A commitment to serving the East Baltimore neighborhood.
Health and wellness: ensuring that our students are healthy and safe is one of henderson-hopkins' key priorities. Henderson-Hopkins continued to use second step, A social-emotional learning curriculum, accross grade levels. The School partnerd with akoben to train all staff in restorative practices. During fy22, 89% of students and families cited in favor with the School's climate and 88% felt safe at School.
