Program areas at Dream Center Bismarck

Dream Center Bismarck is a faith-based charitable organization that finds and fills the needs of struggling people. The Dream Center's goal is to work with others to satisfy immediate needs such as providing meals and groceries but will also focus on the successful transformation of people's lives, all free of charge. Our Adopt-a-Block feeding program is currently delivering groceries to neighborhoods in the community two evenings each week, and available for on-site pickups at the Dream Center six days a week. The groceries are being donated from other food distribution programs in the state of North Dakota, local grocery stores, and bakeries. A smaller portion is also purchased. The groceries are then distributed to families in the community with the Adopt-a-Block truck or at the Dream Center Food Pantry. Like other programs at the Dream Center, the Adopt-a-Block program is almost completely run by volunteers. Since June of 2022, the Dream Center has offered our free Great Start Breakfast weekdays from 7-9am. Originally started as a way for parents and children to enjoy breakfast and time together on the way to school, breakfast has expanded to serve primarily the working poor. Breakfast currently serves about 700 hot meals each week. Our Sack Lunch Program runs primarily at breakfast but also distributes sack lunches throughout the day for people coming to the doors of the Dream Center. About 1,000 sack lunches are passed out each week. In addition to hot breakfasts and sack lunches, the Dream Center also has the main meal of the day which is served seven days a week. The Banquet has grown to serve over 1,500 hot meals each week. Many nonprofit entities use the Dream Center meeting and event space for a variety of meetings and events that serve the low-income and disadvantaged of our community. Celebrate Recovery, Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, Memory Cafe/Alzheimer's group, Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health, Northland Health, Bridging the Dental Gap, NDSU Extension cooking and parenting classes, AARP Tax Prep, and others provide free personal services to those in need. Additionally, free community outreach events and activities celebrating holidays and other special events create community for those that have none have become part of the Dream Center's mission. As many as 1,000 people attend these community celebrations.
