Program areas at Diverse Educational Life Training Activities
Education Excellence Summer Reading DIVEIN: Provided struggling Northwest Huntsville school readers with strategies that will enhance their reading abilities increase their comprehension skills and improve their overall proficiency. DIVEIN Summer 2022: 30 + participants entering K-3rd grades in the fall; DIVE IN Afterschool program served 70 students.
Education Excellence Children's Reading Hour: Continued efforts to support literacy development in children by improving proficiency and encouraging a love for reading at an early age. Under COVID protocols twenty 20 books were provided to each of three adopted Title I schools for a three-month period for a total of one hundred and twenty 180 books. A video featuring a guest reader was also provided for use in a class activity. In fall returned to in-person Reading Hour at Searcy Homes with crafts and volunteers reading to students. Each student received a copy of the book to read along and to take home. Number served: 90;
Education Excellence Book Stipends: Provided Book Stipends to twenty-six 26 four-year scholars participating in the annual Delta Honors Program; $600 stipends to the top GPA three 3 scholars and $400 books stipends to the remaining twenty-three 23 scholars . Over 200 A B honor roll students participated in the virtual program.
