Program areas at Disabilities Network of Eastern Connecticut
Core Services-Individuals with diverse disability categories were provided with services to help increase their independence in their community. During FYE9/30/22 there were over 286 new or continued individuals served. There were 29 individuals who received assistive technology services 4 individuals who received communication services 114 received general advocacy services 5 independent living and life skills training and recreational service referrals to local or national businesses and agencies, 37 peer counseling and family services to provide a person centered approach, 50 preventative care, and physical restoration services, 3 vocational referrals, 31 received transportation assistance and mobility training, 45 received house/home modifications/shelter services, there was 1 individual receiving youth/transition services and family services. These core services are vital to increasing independence for individuals with disabilities in their community, schools and/or places of employment. Finally, there was 1004 general information and referrals taken during the year.
Case Services-During the FYE9/30/22, there were 34 consumers that received financial support from Part B Case Service Funds and/or Restricted Funds received from donors. These funds were used to remove or modify barriers allowing the consumer to live and/or work more independently in their homes and workplace. These modifications included a rollator, ramps, stairlift, grab bars, cleaning company and moving company. We purchased hearing aids, laptop and cell phone, winter clothing, dental work, food, and cleaning supplies. Safety equipment such as flashing alarms for deaf and hard of hearing consumers, restoration fees at the Dept of Motor Vehicles and nicotine patches to assist quitting smoking cigarettes.
