Program areas at Disabilities Network of Eastern Connecticut
During the fiscal year ended9/30/2024, individuals with diverse disabilities received services aimed at enhancing their independence within the community. A total of 297 new or continuing individuals were served, benefiting from the following Assistive Technology Services 30 individuals Communication Services 1 individual General Advocacy Services 94 individuals Independent Living, Life Skills Training, and Recreational Referrals 12 individuals referred to local or national businesses and agencies Peer Counseling and Family Services 40 individuals, utilizing a person-centered approach Preventative Care 9 individuals Physical Restoration Services 2 individuals Vocational Referrals 4 individuals Transportation Assistance and Mobility Training 17 individuals House/Home Modifications and Shelter Services 60 individuals Youth/Transition Services and Family Services 2 individuals. These core services play a critical role in fostering independence for individuals with disabilities in their communities, schools, and workplaces. Continued on Schedule O.
During the fiscal year ended9/30/2024, 49 consumers received financial assistance through Part B Case Service Funds and/or restricted funds from donors. These funds were utilized to eliminate or modify barriers, enabling consumers to live and work more independently in their homes and workplaces. The modifications and support provided included Installation of ramps, stairlifts, a wheelchair lift, and durable medical equipment. Purchases of an electric scooter, a mattress, a laptop, and a hands-free Bluetooth earpiece. Dental work, air conditioning units, and food and personal care items. The purchase and distribution of transportation vouchers. Providing flashing alarms and bed shakers for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, as well as a medication organizer/reminder. Multiple accessible vehicle repairs. Assistance with outstanding utility bills to prevent shutoffs and a rental payment to avoid eviction. These critical services provided consumers with the tools and support needed to enhance their independence and quality of life.
