Program areas at Together Women Rise

Together Women Rise champions global gender equality because Women's rights are human rights. When Women and girls are treated equally, the world is healthier, safer, more peaceful, inclusive, and economically just for everyone. We have hundreds of local chapters across the u.s. where members learn about and advocate for gender equality issues, give grants to organizations that empower Women and girls in low-income countries, and build community to forge meaningful connections that increase our strength and collective impact. Together Women Rise consists of approximately 400 chapters with 5,300 members. Members gather monthly to learn about and advocate for gender equality issues and the organizations that empower Women and girls in low- income countries that we collectively support. Current year projects include: authentique memorial empowerment foundation's mission is to ensure that the rights of children and other vulnerable groups are protected, support the development of children, youths and empower Women through formal and non formal education, while improving the socio-economic wellbeing of local communities through a participatory approach. Our funding supported grow - girls' resilience, opportunities and wellbeing project focused on breaking the cycle of poverty through education, vocational and psychological support among young mothers and pregnant girls, focusing on those associated with armed groups, in southwest cameroon. Colors of connection's mission is to engage youth from conflict affected countries and their communities through collaborative artmaking to promote hope, well-being, and self determination in the pursuit of social justice. Our grant supported the girl awakening program. Funds will support program staff salaries, supplies and food for program activities for girl participants, community leaders and community members. Common threads project helps Women heal from the enduring psychological effects of sexual and gender-based violence in the context of war and displacement. We build local capacity through training and supervision and support local specialists to establish Women's circles and lead them through our transformative therapy process. Our grant funded sajha dhago/common threads project, an expansion of ctp's current pilot program in nepal to groups of teens and other survivors of sexual and gender based violence and training of local clinical staff in common threads trauma recovery methodology, so that a local center of excellence can be established to offer services into the future. Ek tara's mission is to educate, engage, and empower girls and Women from marginalized urban slum communities to become agents of change. Our grant funded a project to support the education of marginalized girls from the largest and poorest slum community in east india. It builds a supportive community invested in the long-term academic goals of the girls. A transformation partner with Together Women Rise, equimundo: center for masculinities and social justice (formerly promundo-us) works to promote gender equality and create a world free from violence by engaging men and boys in partnership with Women, girls, and individuals of all gender identities. Everfree's mission is to accelerate lasting freedom for survivors of human trafficking. Our grant supported everfree's anti-trafficking programs including the delivery and participatory evaluation of trafficking survivor aftercare, prevention, and legal programming in uganda; and pilot expansion of education and data collection in the philippines. A transformation partner with Together Women Rise, international center for research on Women advances gender equity, inclusion and shared prosperity. Icrw's youth-focused program explores, supports and develops programs and policies that work with and for adolescents and youth, including those that prevent early and forced marriage, improve access to quality sexual and reproductive health, promote girls' education, create opportunities to economically empower girls and young Women, and prevent violence. A transformation partner with Together Women Rise, landesa champions and works to secure land rights for millions of the world's poorest, mostly rural Women and men to provide opportunity and promote social justice. Malaika's mission is to empower congolese girls and their communities through education and health programs. Our granted funded nzuri skills to expand our vocational training program for Women in kalebuka. Organization for youth empowerment's mission is to create opportunities for young people to empower themselves and transform their lives, families and communities. Our funding allowed oye to equip adolescent girls and young Women in honduras with critical knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and tools to lead healthy, choice-filled lives and advocate for comprehensive sexuality education in their schools and communities. Project soar's mission is to empower marginalized teen girls to become the leaders of today and tomorrow. Our grant funded girls soar in morocco: a leadership training program for marginalized teen girls to enhance the leadership skills of 200 girls in 10 underserved sites across morocco through the establishment of girl leader clubs and a 25 workshop extracurricular empowerment program. Second mile haiti's mission is to fight childhood malnutrition and improve outcomes for impoverished children in haiti through a holistic, caregiver- centered approach that meets immediate needs for food and health care through live-in malnutrition and maternity centers and invests in families through education, training, and income-generating business activities. Our grant provided support for malnutrition, maternal and child health, and self-sufficiency programs at the san raphael family center in haiti. Self-help international's mission is to alleviate hunger by helping people help themselves. Self-help operates integrated sustainable development programs in ghana and nicaragua to help rural families improve quality of life with dignity. We funded their empowering Women & girls: growing healthy food, growing healthy children project which equips Women with knowledge and resources to achieve a more healthy and equitable future for themselves and their children. A transformation partner with Together Women Rise, shared interest mobilizes the resources for southern africa's economically disenfranchised communities to sustain themselves and build equitable nations. Soccer without border's mission is to use soccer as a vehicle for positive change, providing underserved youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion, and personal success. Our grant funded swb nicaragua education & leadership program (elp) to facilitate positive school outcomes for girls ages 5-20 in granada, nicaragua through a system of financial, academic, and socio-emotional support. The center for victims of torture's mission is to heal the wounds of torture on individuals, their families and their communities and to end torture worldwide. Our grant funded cvt's project to provide mental health and psychosocial support (mhpss) to Women and girls in northern uganda. Yamba malawi's mission is to uplift vulnerable children by empowering their communities to break the cycle of poverty. Our grant funded a project to empower 250 Women's households, including an estimated 25% young mothers (under age 22) to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their children through a holistic, child-focused poverty graduation program.
