Program areas at The Des Moines Urban Experience
The annual Iowa Juneteenth Observance Neighbors Day Celebration. The 2023 celebration occurred at Western Gateway Park on Saturday, June 17th, in Des Moines, IA. This is the largest event for the celebration where attendees come to enjoy entertainment food and support small businesses. The event is free and had approximately 5000 attendees.
Annual Charity Golf Outing for Iowa Juneteenth Observance is a time for community members to enjoy 18 holes of golf and includes 40 participants
The 2023 Community Builders Appreciation Banquet recognizes 7 individuals and the impacts they are making in their communities in the areas of health, public affairs, gospel music, jazz, education, and advocacy. We also award our high school essay contest winners. The event has an annual attendance of 350 people.
