More than 90 percent of Wisconsin's dentists participate in our premier network. This relationship allows us to offer quality dental practices, superior cost management programs, accurate payment and guaranteed benefits. For 2018, delta dental provided dental coverage to more than 2 million individuals. Delta dental's commitment to improving the public's oral health is evidenced by the strong dental plans and networks it offers as well as its commitment to those unable to access dental care through its: - support for safety net clinics and other programs providing treatment to low-income individuals of all ages. - support of sealant programs and other preventive services developed for children. - support of educational institutions providing training for dental professionals and for students enrolled in those schools. Dental workforce support: delta dental of Wisconsin (delta) has provided significant support to the marquette university school of dentistry in the form of grants to the school as well as scholarships and fellowships for dental school students. As the state's only dental school, marquette university's infrastructure, programs, and high quality students are critical to maintaining a strong dental workforce in Wisconsin. Delta was a major donor for marquette's construction of a new dental school facility that opened in 2002, featuring state-of-the-art equipment and technology. In 2011, delta donated to marquette's "building for the future" expansion project, which seeks to expand student capacity to meet future dental workforce demands and upgrade technologies. Delta established a scholarship program that currently provides $144,000 in scholarships annually to dental school students, as well as funding several fellowship programs each year. Safety net clinics and oral health programs serving low-income individuals: delta dental of Wisconsin (delta) makes significant contributions to help establish or sustain more than twenty safety net dental clinics as well as funding for several critical oral health programs statewide that specialize in serving low-income individuals. Combined, these clinics and oral health programs treat thousands of patients each year whose oral health needs would otherwise go unmet or might become so severe as to require expensive hospital emergency room treatment. Generally, these clinics and programs are established and sustained through partnerships between local communities, local dental professionals, and delta. Support of these clinics and oral health programs demonstrates delta's commitment to our mission to expand access to care.
