Program areas at Delaware Wild Lands

Dwl works independently and with conservation partners to protect and conserve the state of delawares most important and significant natural areas including wetlands, forests, salt marsh systems, farms, watersheds, and other undeveloped Lands and waters. This includes implementing private ownership of 21,000 acres of dwl-owned land throughout Delaware; maintaining and enhancing habitat for the protection of wildlife, flora, and fauna; monitoring species population, distribution, and usage of dwl Lands; and control of invasive species.
Dwl works with colleges and universities, students of all ages, and researchers throughout the state and region to provide opportunities to learn about, study, and observe native habitat restoration, bird and wildlife species, sustainable agriculture and forestry, ecosystems services and processes, and effective and sustainable wildlife management practices.
Dwl works to safeguard the biodiversity, natural resources, and wildlife habitat throughout the state and on dwl properties. This includes restoration of forests, wetlands, tidal saltmarshes, and native habitats; tree planting projects; maintaining trails and roads; and creating vernal pools, ponds, and wetlands.
