Program areas at DEAM
Emergency Utility Assistance Program provided financial assistance on behalf of clients to utility companies to prevent discontinuance of utility services to 910 households. The maximum grant was $750.
Emergency Housings Assistance. The organization added funding in the amount of $10,000 and extended an existing grant agreement with Threshold Ministries of the Decatur Presbyterian Church providing funding for up to one month's rent or mortgage payment for eligible people to avoid homelessness. Threshold makes payments to the client's landlord or mortgage holder and provides DEAM with a monthly report to include the client names, family composition, contact information, DOB, last four digits of the Social Security Number, and the name and contact information of the landlord or lender receiving funds. The grant funds were disbursed to Threshold upon execution of the grant extention. In the event the grant funds are not used by the expiration date of the grant, the parties may, but are not required to, extend the term of the agreement. In 2022 Threshold documented assistance from funds provided by DEAM to 20 households (41 persons) of rent assistance in the amount of $12,166 (which included funds granted in the prior year).
Food Pantry program distributed food, clothing, and personal hygiene items to 3,168 households (4,933 individuals), including 1,283 food packs homeless persons.
Prescription Drug Program provided financial assistance to 235 individuals for prescription drugs by direct payment to the pharmacies in the total amount of $8,644.
