Dallas Casa trains and supervises community volunteers who gather information and make recommendations that help judges decide the best possible outcomes for children who have been removed from unsafe homes and are living in protective care. In dfps fy2022, 2,845 abused and neglected children were in protective care in Dallas county. Dallas Casa served 2,835 of those children. In 2022, 1,324 Dallas Casa volunteers were assigned to cases and completed a total of 599,683 total days of service to children. Dallas Casa trained and supervised these volunteers with a total staff of 83 at year-end.
