Program areas at Cyberhawaii
In 2023, Cyberhawaii continued its partnership with the Hawaii dept of business, economic development & tourism and the military affairs council of the chamber of commerce of Hawaii to successfully complete the development of a website for educating small & mid-size businesses (smbs) about cybersecurity and implementing effective cyber controls. Educational webinars were delivered in 2023 that continued on into 2024. Cyberhawaii sponsored the Hawaii cybersecurity conference that was sponsored by the fbi and other federal and state agencies. Businesses, government agencies, students, faculty and the community got to learn about cyber threat actors and how to stay safe from them. Cyberhawaii presented on the topic of cyber safety for seniors at the annual Hawaii gerontological society meeting. The presentation was given in conjunction with the Hawaii better business bureau. Cyberhawaii exhibited at the annual young at heart festival, providing information to attendees on cyber safety and making a presentation on emerging cyber threats. As part of its outreach to the kupuna community, Cyberhawaii went to the franciscan vistas ewa senior living community to provide information on how to stay safe from cyber criminals. Cyberhawaii hosted the u.s. department of energy's cyberstrike lights out training at the university of Hawaii walter dods jr rise facility. Members of critical infrastructure organizations as well as students and faculty were invited to experience the lessons learned from russia's attack against ukraine's energy infrastructure. Cyberhawaii participated in the university of Hawaii's tech days of fall to help educate students about opportunities in the cybersecurity field. Cyberhawaii's president & ceo, al ogata, took part in a "talk story with the pros" event for university students where industry professionals interact as mentors for stem students. Cyberhawaii sponsored the u.s. department of homeland security's Hawaii corporate cybersecurity symposium that brought experts from dhs offices across the country to provide updates on cyber threats to Hawaii government, business and academic leaders.
