Program areas at Cuban Artists Fund

The success of this year is highlighted by several events:-artists in residencefor many Cuban Artists, the most valuable of caf's opportunities is the residency program offered at no cost. Caf inaugurated a new studio space in midtown manhattan in 2017 and often matches our production studio in conjunction with residency programs offering a programmatic direction as exemplified with our partnership with residency unlimited. -partnership with residency unlimitednow in our third year of collaboration, caf and residency unlimited (ru) supports the creation, presentation, and dissemination of contemporary art through this unique residency program and public programs. The residency differs from our traditional studio space residency as it is focused on network support, project/production assistance, and public exposure. This includes weekly meetings with art professionals aligning artistic and curatorial interests, regular project support with ru staff, and a public program opportunity at ru's brooklyn location or partnering venues throughout new york. We work together to develop a tailored residency experiences that maximize the potential of residents' stay in new york. Residents benefit from the creative and logistical support of our dedicated staff, customized weekly studio visits with arts professionals, and ru monthly community and public programing. -special events:havana living today, february, 2018caf sponsored hermes mallea's third book presentation, havana living today, which features both stylish homes that survived the Cuban revolution as well as innovative havana interiors created in recent years amid the beginning of a new era and lifestyle. The event was hosted by the architectural firm, meridian design. Hermes mallea, who lives in new york city, received a bachelor of architecture degree from the university of miami, attended the masters program in historic preservation at columbia university, and is a licensed architect in the state of new york and a member of the aia. He has presented papers on the design links between paris and havana, historic photographs of Cuban domestic interiors, and havana lifestyles stories chronicling the individualism and self-expression that has been accomplished in cuba in spite of the island's severe constraints over the last fifty-seven years20th anniversary reception & studio tour, november 8, 2018the Cuban Artists Fund's 20th anniversary celebration took place on november 8, 2018 with a visit to the studio of Artists jose and rey parla.
