Program areas at Brain Injury Connections of the Shenandoah Valley
Brain Injury Connections of the Shenandoah Valley, Inc. Provided case management to 87 unique individuals and their families. Case management includes coordinating services, resources and supports for persons with Brain Injury such as financial, employment, education, housing, assistive devices, and independent living. In addition, 27 individuals were provided with information and referrals and 68 were provided with consultation services. Furthermore, throughout the pandemic Brain Injury Connections provided 32 support group opportunities for 234 clients and caregivers throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Brain Injury Connections provided Brain Injury education and training to the community, including 9 crisis intervention trainings (cit) for 140 first responders across our service area. 4 individuals were working or returned to work. 10 individuals were volunteering in the community and/or were enrolled in school or training. Community partnerships: we collaborated with community partners to cover costs for client services/equipment such as: home repairs, neurofeedback testing, a manual wheelchair, neuromuscular massage therapy, child psychiatry services, an accessible walk-in shower, and service dog training. Bicsv was proud to partner with our local fitness to provide clients with inclusive wellness programs. Additionally, bicsv participated with dlcv's ssa people facing barriers training in order to more effectively support clients applying for ssdi. Bicsv was able to conduct more than 90 outreach programs in our service regions, including highland county and page/shenandoah county, our rural-most areas. Annual client survey results: in june 2022, bicscv completed our fiscal year 2022 client survey and the results are as follows: -on average 92% of clients have stated that they are satisfied with the quality of services from bicsv. -100% of respondents stated that the quality of life has improved or held since working with bicsv. -90% of respondents indicated that bicsv has made it easier to access information, services and resources. -90% of respondents replied that the services they receive from bicsv met their expectations. -100% of clients surveyed stated their case manager understands their needs. -85% of survey respondents stated bicsv has helped them to be more independent. Half of those who responded were clients and half were family members and caregivers.
