Cultural Journeys (1,052 youth), Music (343 Students) Visual Arts (573 students)1) Cultural Journeys: Youth enjoyed concerts, plays, museums and unique events at premier venues, like Cirque du Soleil, Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall and LA Ballet. 2)Music: Students at Brooklyn Ave. Elementary, Logan Ave. Schools and Elizabeth Learning Center enjoyed guitar. All Pre-K children at ELAC and 2nd & 3rd graders at Rowan Ave. Schools learned steady beat music.3) Visual Arts: All students at Camino Nuevo Charter learned fine art. Homeless kids at shelters loved our arts classes. During Covid-19, foster girls painted canvases, others made arts and crafts (see Schedule O for more details).
Fashion (12 students), Culinary Arts (8 students), Community Events1)Fashion: Teenage foster girls living at Maryvale in Rosemead were loving our Fashion Design workshop, until classes were interrupted by Covid-19. 2)Culinary Arts: Homeless young adults ages 18-24 at Covenant House in Hollywood learned how to shop for healthy food, and cooking techniques. 3)Community Events: Power of the Arts Festival for 200+ youth and a Holiday Party for 50 children. (see sch O for additional accomplishments)
Performing Arts (45 youth), Writing (33 students)1) Performing Arts: Children at Logan Avenue Schools learned to dance and sing, then performed at a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and for all their families thanks to the California Arts Council. During Covid-19, disadvantaged kids in DTLA enjoyed Hip-Hop Dance Zoom classes and toddlers loved singing at Penny Lane in Pacoima.2) Writing: Incarcerated teenage boys at Optimist Youth Homes in Highland Park flourished through our Hip-Hop Songwriting and Poetry workshop. Teenage foster youth living at Hillsides group home improved their creative writing skills. Students on probation at Central High near DTLA learned Creative Writing.
