Program areas at Council on Aging
Medicaid provides funds to assist elderly and low income citizens to remain independent by providing custodial and basic medical needs to the person in their home. Provided 381,726 Personal Care units, 432,423 Homemaker units, and 21,835 Traumatic Brain Injury units.
The Lighthouse program provides in-home assistance for seniors who do not qualify for other programs. The Fair program provides relief to caregivers who care for individuals with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Provided 12,857 units of Lighthouse and 3,163 units of Fair.
Title III Program provides social services and nutritional services to senior citizens funds through a mixture of federal and state grants as well as program income. Provided 2,599 congregate meals, 26,961 home delivered meals, 6,773 grab and go meals, 1,344 units of in-home respite, 17 units of information and assistance, 470 units of personal care, 53 units of Tai Chi for arthritis, and 1,777 units of transportation.
Life program which subsidizes the senior center and activities (635 units of nutrition education) 5310 grant used for Medical/Special Transport. Benefit Counseling/MIPPA/SMP which helps older individuals understand their rights under the Social Security Act, Medicaid, supplement social security programs and general insurance policies. HHS Stimulus grant to assist during the Covid-19 pandemic. Meals on Wheels Covid grant to provide information about Covid-19 and available vaccines.
