Program areas at Convergence Center for Policy Resolution
Economic opportunity - Convergence collaboratives in the area of economic opportunity brought stakeholders together across ideologies and sectors to build trust, develop solutions, and create unlikely alliances that achieve on-the-ground results: (1) the Convergence collaborative on pathways to better jobs, which released a blueprint for action in august 2023 with solutions for matching worker skills with employer needs, improving work economic mobility, and boosting employer competitiveness; and (2) the Convergence collaborative on supports for working families, which released a blueprint for action in february 2024 with recommendations for federal policymakers, states, employers, and philanthropy to support families to flourish.
Digital discourse - the Convergence collaborative on digital discourse convened representatives from academia, tech platforms, Policy, health, media, community-based and bridge-building organizations, alternative social networks, those personally impacted by digital harms, and more to craft solutions for tacking the deep challenges around our digital discourse. In december 2023, the group issued a blueprint for action with solutions for promoting user agency and free speech, equipping users with skills and awareness against harmful information, and supporting trustworthy and sustainable media. Like all solutions emerging from Convergence collaboratives, they are widely supportable because of the unusually diverse needs they meet and the diverse stakeholders who champion and implement them.
Communications: Convergence convenes leaders, doers, citizens and experts across ideological, political, and identity lines. Using our time-tested collaborative problem-solving methodology, our collaboratives build trusting relationships, identify breakthrough solutions, and form unlikely alliances for action on contentious issues. Through the Convergence learning lab, we inspire and equip leaders to use our collaborative problem-solving methodology for addressing the deep divisions within their communities and organizations, focusing on business, government, higher education, and civil society and community organizations. By communicating about the success of this work, Convergence provides unique, powerful evidence that collaborative problem-solving works.
