Program areas at Community Justice Project

In 2022, Community Justice Project supported floridians rights to housing stability by working with tenants and Community organizations to win fair notice policies, tenant bills of rights and support efforts for rent stabilization. This organizing started in miami-dade and would eventually spread to at least 19 other municipalities across the state where roughly 53% Florida renters benefitted from this expanded notice. We represented Community organizers in litigation challenging the constitutionality of laws that target immigrants and black protestors. We brought Community leaders to the united nations to share their experiences with repressive policies in Florida and shine a light on the impact of Florida's anti- protest law. Additionally, we also supported building statewide power by collaborating with networks like gulf south for the green new deal, Florida housing Justice alliance and south floridas racial Justice table. Community Justice Project also created data-driven and user-friendly resources for organizers such as housing policy toolkits, hurricane ian demand guides and guides and resources for unemployment and food insecurity, as well as maintaining an up-to-date database of evictions that were shared with organizers for canvassing.
