Housing - weatherization assistance program (wap) enables low-income families to permanently reduce their energy bills by making their homes more energy efficient. Funds are used to improve the energy performance of dwellings of needy families using the most advanced technologies and testing protocols available in the housing industry.
County services - provide various programs to residents of Dutchess County. These programs included: home energy assistance program (heap), local share, poor and elderly grants, heating assistance, emergency fuel accessibility, employment case management, and health insurance/food stamp enrollment. Beacon meals and transportation program helps seniors with meals and also transportation to shop at a local store.
Income resource development - provides various services to residents of Dutchess County including the earned income tax credit program, dress for success, suited to succeed, and case management programs. Clients receive services to help them reach their goal of self-sufficiency. This may include free tax preparation and budgeting advice, employment retention, resume creation, and workforce readiness skills training, as well as assistance with workplace attire. Clients are assisted with utilizing, accessing, and increasing their resources to improve their lives.
Client assistance - to assist low-income clients with prescriptions, utilities, rent/mortgage, and other immediate needs.
Other programs funded or provided in this category include the retirees senior volunteer program, earned income credit, food pantries, thrift stores and bilingual translation as well as many other valuable services.
