Communities in Schools of South Central Texas empowers at-risk students to stay in school and achieve in life by surrounding them with a community of support. The organization serves seven school districts and offers intensive, individualized, holistic services to 3,873 students. In addition, it provides two or more services to over 34,000 students through collaboration with 464 volunteers.

Program areas at Communities in Schools of South Central Texas

Cis-sct served six school districts and provided 4,323 students with intensive, individualized, holistic services.in addition,cis-sct provided two or more services to over 38,152 students. Cis-sct accomplished this in collaboration with 1,590 volunteers providing 39,800 hours of services and over 475 community partnerships to meet the needs of students and their families. Through a combination of individual and group services, cis-scts impact on the lives of young people resulted in a 89% improvement in behavior; 80% inprovement in attendance; 93% improvement in academic performance; 99% stayed in school; 99% were promoted to the next grade and 100% of eligible seniors graduated. 116 mentors were matched with students in need of as adult role model; 195 high school students were provided with college and career preparation activities. Cis-sct is committed to addressing the mental health needs of the youth we serve.40,167 hours of mental health services were provided by site coordinators, and 227 students received 1,517 hours of one on one therapeutic counseling at no cost to them or their families, a value of $189,656.
