Program areas at Comm Foundation of Carroll County
The Organization directly administers multiple funds, including seven endowment funds, according to the federal and state requirements, and the National Standards for Community Foundations. The majority of the direct support for the Organization is received from the State of Iowa, currently for the benefit of Carroll County and Sac County. Of those funds, 25% are required to be placed in permanent endowments for the benefit of the citizens of Carroll County and Sac County. The remaining funds from the State are to be used for the public benefit of each county to enhance the cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities, as well as for the public health and safety of local communities and other community opportunities. The Organization will only provide grants to qualified projects meeting the charitable objectives to benefit community citizens and to governmental organizations or those recognized as eligible charitable organizations under 26 U.S.C. 501(c)(3) or those similarly qualified. Similarly, the Organization administers its other funds to meet their stated functions, under the Organization's governing criteria.During the current year the Organization awarded 33 grants for the following types of projects: replacing bunker gear for fire department, remodeling a toddler room for a daycare, outdoor play structures for a daycare, seating and safety upgrades to local baseball stadium, cross country skis, camperships for children suffering from cancer, rehabiliation of a public sport court, replacing chairs at aquatic center, ball park improvements, concession stands and bleachers, new playground equipment, infant strollers, awning and furnace for shelther house, barrier free lifts, books for young children, repairs to city hall and to community center, pool renovation, construction of a veterans memorial, library improvements, city entrance signs, 100 year revitalization project, chain link fence for ball field, new village project for historical society, repairing roof of historic hausbarn and train, art projects, and general education support for public school.
