Program areas at CCF
Connecting donors and causes: donor advisors contributed over $3.7 million to various types of donor funds established at Cobb Community Foundation. Likewise, donor advisors awarded $1.5 million in grants in 2022 to 223 charitable organizations serving in the areas of health, human services, education, Community service and the arts. This year, just over 1/3 of our grantees are based in Cobb county, and 2/3 of the total dollars granted were to Cobb nonprofits. Eighty percent of all dollars granted were granted to metro atlanta area organizations.
Thrive grants: ccf established the Cobb thrive grant program in 2022. Thrive grants provide $7,500 in unrestricted funds to help strengthen and support small to mid-sized nonprofit charitable organizations that are helping Cobb county to thrive. Of the $282,000 contributed to our Community grantmaking funds, $105,000 was allocated to support this initiative.
Strategic impact: ccf has been working throughout the Community to develop Community resource centers ("crcs"). A crc is a physical location owned or operated by a trusted Community partner at which multiple services are provided by multiple organizations. The services provided are driven by the needs of the Community. Ccf is working with several nonprofit partners to make the needed services available in the areas where they are most needed. Programs funded in 2022 focus on early learning, trauma-informed care, food distribution, and poverty reduction. Consistent with ccf's emphasis on collaboration in the nonprofit Community, ccf also funded awards for outstanding collaborative spirit. Of the $282,000 contributed to our Community grantmaking funds, $76,050 was allocated to support this initiative.
Scholarships: Cobb Community Foundation held 10 scholarship funds in 2022. Four of these were established by families and friends in memory of a loved one. Several were created by companies for their employees and dependents of employees, and the remainding scholarships were created by area social clubs and organizations. Forty-four scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $7,500 were awarded to students attending twenty different schools in five states.
Capacity building programs: ccf's 2019 needs assessment clarified the need to help smaller nonprofits providing services in south Cobb to build their capacity. Ccf and united way of greater atlanta nw metro region partnered to identify, develop and fund programs that would be most beneficial to selected organizations. With network for good, ccf awarded 5 jump start grants of $5,000 each for participation in a 12-month training program. The program helped grant recipients to immediately build their fundraising capacity, diversify revenue and sustain and grow their programs. Six additional organizations were awarded grants to participate in a tailored training and coaching program developed by Georgia center for nonprofits that would prepare them to pursue the fundraising training in 2023. Of the $282,000 contributed to our Community grantmaking funds, $55,000 was allocated to support this initiative.
