Program areas at Coalition of Cancer Cooperative Groups
Federal grants - the Coalition, through its federal funding, supports the efforts of the ecog-acrin group co-chair's office through such services as contracting, grant and fiscal oversight, legal counsel, communication, and general administration. Furthermore, the Coalition assists in expediting the development and conduct of ecog-acrin studies, assists with the development and dissemination of educational materials for oncologists and patients, works to improve patient accrual to ecog-acrin trials, and coordinates the ecog-acrin semi-annual group meetings.
Private foundation grants - through a grant provided by the breast Cancer research foundation, the Coalition provides assistance to ecog investigators who are conducting a study on late relapse breast Cancer by serving as the prime grantee who is responsible for liaising with the grantor, monitoring grant progress and submitting bi-annual reports, disseminating grant funding to subcontractors for various aspects of the study, and developing and disseminating materials to bolster accrual to the study.
Cancer trials support unit (ctsu) - under a subcontract with westat, inc. (rockville, md) the Coalition provides professional and support staff to operate and manage the regulatory support system and other key functions of the ctsu (a major clinical trial program of the national Cancer institute (nci, u.s. dept of health and human services), under westat's prime contract with nci, no.
