Program areas at CLIC Foundation

Our efforts in 2021 were focused on obtaining resources and planning for pooling and analyzing of genotype and epidemiologic data from CLIC and other studies of childhood cancer. Our accomplishments were as follows:1.We conducted a modest fundraising campaign for the CLIC Foundation. Donors included the Childrens Cancer Research Fund and individuals.2.We acquired outside funds from the National Cancer Institute, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and Love Your Melon that will also be used for pooling and analyzing data. The considerable donation provided by the Childrens Cancer Research Fund was a critical factor in obtaining substantial outside funds.3.We explored boutique software suites as possible solutions for overcoming the legal and regulatory barriers to pooling and analyzing data.4.After determining that the software suites could not overcome data sharing restrictions, we devised an innovative, distributed approach for pooling and analyzing data. This creative approach was a key part of our success in obtaining the highly competitive R01 grant from the National Cancer Institute mentioned above.Note: These accomplishments meet the first and second purposes of the CLIC Foundation as described in the Articles of Incorporation.
