Program areas at Cleveland Classical Guitar Society
For more than a decade, Cleveland Classical Guitar Society has been offering a unique opportunity for kids in the city of Cleveland to experience and learn how to play Guitar from talented artists and experienced educators. The education program is designed to fight inequities and reduce barriers to instruction for kids - providing them with curricula, guitars and more at no cost to the students or their families. In fiscal year 2024, 100 students received in-depth, ongoing instruction in classes and/or lessons. Students performed as openers for all five international series concerts as well as major area events such as rock your world with steam and larchmere porchfest. An alumnus of the education program performed solo for the Cleveland foundation's annual meeting for 2000 people at severance music center. Altogether, students and alumni performed for 31 events that ccgs produced or partnered with, for over 5000 people.
The international series presents the world's greatest Classical guitarists, with performers now representing 24 countries and 32 Cleveland debuts. The performers also work with ccgs students, sharing musical insights and experiences. In fiscal year 2024, the international series plus a special collaborative concert served 2077 people through concerts, master classes, and outreach performances and classes for students in ccgs's education program.
