"Claiborne County Historical Society promotes and preserves the history of Claiborne County TN. In 2022, the society met 8 times and returned to pre-Covid times while continuing to publish their Reflections magazine 3-4 times per year. Despite Covid and aging volunteers, they have opened to the public. The society is currently restoring the oldest freestanding jail in the state of TN, which is also the 3rd oldest in the country. They continue to educate visitors about its historical significance and added electricity in 2020. The jail was opened for public viewing for 12 days.".
