Program areas at CInestudio

Cinestudio is dedicated to providing New England, particularly Hartford, with access to unique films that are typically unavailable outside larger metropolitan areas. Our diverse selection includes independent movies, classic American cinema, and foreign language films, aiming to expose audiences to a wide array of world cultures. Our staff and volunteers curate these films, considering patron input, to entertain, educate, inspire, provoke, and transform our audience.Operating year-round, seven days a week, Cinestudio ensures the public stays informed about our schedule through email, our website, social media, and lobby flyers. One of our key commitments is to showcase films in the best available technological format. Unlike many commercial theaters, we possess the necessary equipment to screen older 35mm and 70mm films in their original formats. In 2011, we invested in a state-of-the-art digital projection system, ensuring our ability to present cinema in new formats for generations to come.Cinestudio hosts several film festivals each year and welcomes suggestions for programming from external organizations. These events encompass a wide range of themes, including French, Italian and LGBT film festivals, as well as series focusing on international cinema. Our annual Trinity Film Festival showcases short films by students from across the globe, often in collaboration with other nonprofit organizations. In addition to film screenings, Cinestudio has expanded its programming to include live broadcasts of theater, fine art exhibitions and most recently the Met Opera Live in HD, enriching Hartford's cultural landscape. Committed to educational and community outreach, we frequently present films requested by local high school teachers and are developing educational programs and discussion groups led by filmmakers and scholars. Cinestudio remains steadfast in its mission to enrich the arts landscape of Connecticut and provide diverse audiences with enriching cinematic experiences.Expenses $174,013.
