Our organization promotes chicago as a premier destination for businesses and leisure traveler. As a result, 57.6 million domestic and international travelers visited chicago in 2018, an increase of 4.3 percent over 2017's record of 55.2 million. These visitors generated a record $140 million in city hotel tax revenue, $3.3 billion in state and local tax revenue, and spent $41.7 billion over 2017 yielding more than $1,069 billion in taxable revenue for the city of chicago and the state of Illinois. Illinois and chicago travel and tourism supported more than 342,000 jobs in 2018.
