Program areas at China Educational Exchange
Visiting scholar program - each year, fourteen to sixteen english teachers or members of a foreign affairs office participate in this program. Visiting scholars are selected in the sichuan education commission and China Educational Exchange (cee) gives various partner universities the opportunity to select persons to be part of the program the current program is for one academic semester, usually in the fall, and the program takes place in harrisonburg, va. Visiting scholars audit classes at eastern mennonite university; cee arranges six hours each week for lectures and field trips focusing on various aspects of norther american culture. Learning tours - extended cross cultural experiences are provided to colleges and university students in China with a focus on the country's contemporary society plus its history, culture, language, and religions shorter cross cultural experiences are provided through the adult learning tours offered to u.s. and canadian citizens, also with a focus on the contemporary society, history, culture, and religions
Teachers in China - three year english teaching program: each year, five to ten persons teach english at universities in China through mennonite partners in China (mpc). Courses taught include conversational english, composition, literature, north american culture and reading for comprehension. Mpc provides orientation, preparation, language study, and transportation costs. Host schools provide furnished housing and salary. The five teaching locations are primarily in sichuan province
