Program areas at Chicamacomico Life-Saving Stat
One of the largest and most complete U.S. Life-Saving Service complexes remaining in the nation. Open April-November. Self-guided tour of historic buildings: 1874 boat house, 1911 station/look-out tower, historically accurate cook house complete with furnishings and supplies, c.1907 residence filled with vintage furnishings and household goods. Weekly Beach Apparatus Drill rescue re-enactment in summer months is performed by all-volunteer crew. In 2023, volunteer drill team traveled to Wood Island Life-Saving Station in Maine to perform re-enactment for the U.S. Life-Saving Service Heritage Association Conference.In 2023, the roof and siding on the 1911 Cookhouse outbuilding was repaired, funded in part by a grant.Number of visitors in 2023 = 8,925
Historical site is occasionally rented for use as a wedding venue
The museum gift shop sells educational materials and other items related to the U.S. Life-Saving Service and the local area. The gift shop is used to attract visitors to the museum. The shop is operated at the same time that the museum is open. Net proceeds are used to fund museum operations and rehabilitation projects.
