Program areas at Chicago Children's Advocacy Center

Case coordination program - chicagocac coordinated 2,048 multidisciplinary investigations into reports of child sexual abuse, physical abuse, trafficking, witness to violence, and risk of harm cases. 1,794 forensic interviews were performed. Investigations often require children to be interviewed about the incident of abuse and sometimes children receive a forensic medical exam. Case coordinators contact parents to schedule appointments for these events and speak with each family about histories of domestic violence, medical and mental health problems, and needs related to language and disabilities.
Advocacy - chicagocac provided Advocacy and case management services to 1,823 new families. Advocates work on behalf of the children and families who come to the Center. They explain and guide parents through the investigation and legal process, assess each family's needs, provide emotional support and counseling, and refer children and caretakers to other needed services in the family's community or at the Center.
Mental health - chicagocac provided 6,955 hours of therapy to children and parents. Our clinicians provide crisis counseling, talk therapy, art therapy, and psychiatric services for children and families. We specifically target children and families experiencing immediate and severe mental health problems who have difficulty accessing mental health services in their community.
