Founded in 2002, Chelan Douglas County Volunteer Attorney Services (CDCVAS) was based on the principle of access to justice, for all! In 2022 Chelan Douglas County Volunteer Attorney Services served a record-breaking 407 unique clients. 49 attorneys volunteered their time to provide 434 hours of pro bono legal services to low-income clients residing in, or with a case pending in Chelan and Douglas Counties. Together, staff, contracted, and pro bono attorneys facilitated a total of 1642 hours of free legal services to 407 unique individuals. These individuals/households impact 651 adults (over 18 years old) and 388 children. Civil legal aid services provided in 2022 included cases regarding Consumer law, Employment, Family Law, Housing, Wills and Estates, and other issues like driver's licenses, social security, etc. The organization adopted a new three-year strategic plan and held staff and board retreats that included race, diversity, equity, and inclusion training for all.
