Program areas at Charleston Literary Festival

Charleston Literary Festival was thrilled to announce the full lineup of world-class authors and innovative literary experiences that was featured at the Historic Dock Street Theatre from November 1st to November 10th. The Festival had 37 events for the season. The Festival's line-up reflects the Festival's commitment to world-class programming with an international edge and constant innovation in the literary arts. We're honored to host a 10-day celebration bubbling over with award-winning authors, big ideas, and lively conversations. From producing a world premiere play with an internationally recognized creative team to launching the CLF Cato Fellowship to promote writers in North and (Continued on Schedule O) South Carolina, this year's Festival showed that there are no limits to what we can create in our thriving literary city. The Cato Fellowship Prize is awarded to two highly-skilled writers of fiction, creative nonfiction, or poetry who are resident in North or South Carolina. Writers receive a full residency in Charleston during the ten days of Charleston Literary Festival with full access to the Festival events, authors, and a writing desk in Dock Street Theatre as well as a cash prize of $7,500. The Charleston Literary Festival's Young Writers Awards seeks to elevate teen voices while supporting their talents and providing the encouragement needed to be lifelong creators. The Awards align with South Carolina ELA State Standards and are open to 9th 12th grade students currently enrolled in a Charleston County public school. The Awards offer opportunities for recognition of teachers and students, cash prizes, and participation in Literary Festival events. The Literary Festival wishes that the recognition received will show young authors that their voices are valuable and provide them with a launchpad for careers centered in the literary arts.
