Transportation - c.i.d.e.r. Provides Essential, door to door transportation to Champlain island seniors and persons with disabilities using its own drivers and vehicles and by coordinating the work of volunteers using their own vehicles. Most of the trip destinations are to st. albans or the greater burlington area and include trips for medical appointments, adult day programs, senior meal programs and personal, family and shopping trips. C.i.d.e.r. Provides thousands of trips to hundreds of individuals each year.
Other programs - the monthly "c.i.d.e.r. Press" newsletter, ramp, building and other accessibility projects, a special needs equipment lending closet, development activities for a future housing project, and a number of health, fitness and educational programs.
Senior meals program - with expanded funding from the united way and direct donations to the program, c.i.d.e.r. Operates a senior community meals program known as "the neighbor". Nutritious "home cooked meals" are prepared by c.i.d.e.r's chef (with home help and assistance from volunteers) and provided four times weekly at a local church and through the meals on wheels program. In a normal year, nearly 5,000 meals are served.
