Program areas at Centro Multicultural La Familia
Voca program: in addition to direct services to victims of domestic violence, including children exposed to violence at home, Centro is providing services to children who have suffered child abuse and bullying. Hate crimes, including, but not limited to, physical assault due to discrimination based on victim's national origin or religious beliefs, are also a focus of the program. Staff served a total of 138 victims last year.
Stop violence: provides individual advocacy-based counseling and support groups for survivors and/or victims of abuse. Some of the services provided include empowerment counseling and emotional support, case management and system-based advocacy, interpretation and translation assistance, and resource referrals to legal services when needed.
Exito educativo: promotes academic success among latino families by bringing parents and their students in high school together to learn about the requirements for high school graduation, the different sources of support, and the pathways to college and it's benefits.
Other program services provided by the organization include workshops for youth with topics like leadership, bullying and art expression; parenting workshops; healthy lifestyles workshops including healthy eating, and management of chronic diseases such as diabetes
