Program areas at Central Texas Alternative Dispute Resolution Center
Our 2020 Accomplishment Letter dated Augus 12, 2022. The Central Texas Dispute Resolution Center (CTDRC) is a 501(C)3 Non-Profit organization. We provide mediation services and training to the underserved and unserved in Calwell, Comal, Guadalupe, and Hays counties. CTDRC was established in 2010, and initially offered services as the the Hays County Dispute Resolution Center. Our target audience are those citizens who cannot afford both legal and mediation fees in resolving conflict. These cases generally involve government, landlord/tenant, neighbor to neighbor, property claims, and business and consumer related issues. The Family cases include divorce, child custody, child support, SPSR, and property distribution. Those who qualify for our services are able to receive reduced rates for mediation. We offer up to eight hours of mediation for Family cases for $150 per party. Other Civil cases are mediated for $75 for up to 4 hours each party. Cases referred to us from Justice of the Peace Courts and by Law Enforcement are mediated free of charge. In cases where folks cannot pay, they can come to the CTDRC to mediate free of charge. In the fiscal year 2020, our caseload was 99 cases, an 18% decrease.Keep in mind that this was a COVID year with the courts closed with no referrals and whad to change our way of doing businss. We were still able to mediate these cases for the unserved and underserved using technology of ZOOM. Our services not only reduce the cost of litigation for our citizens, but also reduces the workload of our crowded courts.
